Each spring the Canadian Children's Dance Theatre invites young dancers, ages 8-20, to visit classes and rehearsals and to audition for the upcoming season. CCDT dancers come from a variety of backgrounds though all share a passion for the expressive power and range of modern dance choreography that is created on them, for them. For information about the next audition, please:
Auditioning dancers may be accepted into the Young Apprentice Program for ages 8-12, the Core Apprentice Program for ages 11-14, as Apprentices working with the company and occasionally performing, or as Company Dancers with full performance and touring responsibilities. Company membership brings many benefits including touring nationally and internationally, working with some of Canada's leading dance artists, and making life-long friends!
Company Dancers and Company Apprentices commit to an 11-month season, September through July. Company Dancers and Apprentices attend three ballet classes and three modern classes weekly, with additional weekend rehearsal time. Core Apprentices and Young Apprentices commit to a 10-month season, attending two to three ballet classes, two modern classes and one repertoire class weekly. All dancers attend the SunDance program each summer in preparation for the following season.
