Warming the hearts of audiences with a breathtaking tapestry of seasonal dance inspired by the world’s rich solstice traditions, WinterSong now shifts from stage to screen for the first time. This year's event, live-streaming through Vimeo to viewers around the globe, presents an evening of virtual dances old and new hosted by Artistic Director Deborah Lundmark & Associate Artistic Director Natasha Poon Woo.

 

Featuring the world premieres of short dance films Cold Moon by Deborah Lundmark and STAR SEED by Alyssa Martin, in collaboration with rising dance filmmaker Drew Berry, plus mini-documentaries by Kendra Epik and Vickie Fagan, and more!

In association with Toes for Dance, ignite! is an auditioned one-week summer program for ages 15 and up. Through classes, movement labs, choreographic collaborations, and field trips (to art galleries, performances, open rehearsals, and more), this program will open your eyes and open doors to a professional career in contemporary dance!

A world premiere by Dora Award-winning choreographer Hanna Kiel highlights the program, set to an original score by Greg Harrison and Frances Miller with live vocal performance by Miller. Also featured are the return of Against the Dark by Colin Connor (Artistic Director, Limón Dance Company), Sylvie Bouchard’s exquisite Petits rêves, Apolonia Velasquez’s hyper-kinetic contemporary street dance fusion UNHUSH, and Carol Anderson’s signature creation for the mid-winter season, Nowell Sing We.

In savage times, grace finds a natural refuge in the arts. Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre’s 17th NextSteps edition features five seasoned choreographers and eleven young dance artists who seek such gracious notes through one of its paramount instruments – the human form in motion.

Ignite! is a one-week contemporary dance program focused on self-discovery and creative process, designed for aspiring and emerging dance artists. 

 

Through classes, research labs, life-coaching, homework/self-directed creative projects, and 1-on-1 sessions, Ignite! will challenge you to clarify your values, break out of your habits, accept your failures, celebrate togetherness and create a vision for your artistic future.

Ignite! is a collaboration between CCDT and TOES FOR DANCE.
