Additional Information

Full Company membership brings many benefits, at no cost, including:

  • professionally produced performances each season

  • creation and rehearsal with internationally recognized choreographers

  • two weekly Company Modern/Contemporary technique classes with Company Directors and renowned guest teachers (supplementing weekly ballet and modern technique classes at the School of CCDT)

  • one weekly Company Conditioning Class for strength, flexibility, alignment, injury prevention, and mental health support

  • unmatched preparation for entry to performing arts programs, conservatories, and dance careers

  • paid performance weeks

  • a $3,500 scholarship in support of post-secondary education

  • invaluable networking connections with established international artists and making life-long friends

*Dancers offered Company or Accelerated Training Program contracts receive automatic acceptance to SunDance.

Company members commit to an 11-month season. In July, new and returning dancers attend CCDT's three-week international SunDance summer intensive* in preparation for the upcoming season. From September through June the dancers take 7-8 dance classes per week*, rehearse repertoire, create new works with commissioned choreographers (approx. 20-25 weekly hours in studio), and perform extensively in three annual productions. Company dancers are also expected to participate in fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

Auditioning dancers between the ages of 8 and 13 may be considered for the Accelerated Training Program. This pre-professional program provides an opportunity for gifted young dancers to enhance their artistry with others who share their love for dance. Many CCDT dancers begin as ATP members, progressing through their training and artistic development to eventually join the Company as full members.

*While CCDT strives to offer as many free training opportunities as possible, our members' School of CCDT technique classes (excluding two weekly company classes and one weekly conditioning class) and SunDance registration are at the dancer's own expense. Exceptional dancers in need of financial assistance may be eligible for SCCDT scholarship.

†Skill level, ability, and experience are considered alongside age to determine program placement at the time of audition. Dancers ages 11-13 who demonstrate advanced-level ability may be considered for full Company Apprenticeship.
